Exhumed "Gore Metal - A Necrospective 1998-2015"

EXHUMED
"Gore Metal - A Necrospective 1998-2015"
Relapse Records
Released: February 10, 2015

EXHUMED's "Gore Metal" was originally released on Relapse in 1998.

When I got the vinyl 17 years ago, I immediately fell in love with this record. Filthy, horrific, CARCASS-like death metal with the disgusting level prominently featured and the sophistication removed.

It was a fun record that introduced me to words like: Enucleation a word here which means to remove from it's enveloping cover.

verb (used with object), enucleated, enucleating.
1. Biology. to deprive of the nucleus.
2. to remove (a kernel, tumor, eyeball, etc.) from its enveloping cover.
3. Archaic. to bring out; disclose; explain.

So yeah, this was a fun record that EXHUMED decided to re-record and release in 2015.

Considering I didn't have this digitally, this is nicety.

There is a 2-cd package with both recorded versions. Very nice.

Some way more fantastic vinyl versions beyond my black vinyl 1998 pressing are also imminent. My favorite being the "slime, blood and guts with bone chips".
First Press
250 x Relapse 25th Anniversary Silver Standard Gram *Mailorder Exclusive*
250 x Slime, Blood and Guts Standard Gram *Mailorder Exclusive*
1000 x Black Standard Gram
100 x Clear (do not request clear)

Missing in the rerecording is "Sodomy and Lust" (SODOM cover) which was on my copy of the original vinyl. So you know, you still have to go find that if you are a vinyl completion-ist.

There are no weak links in the EXHUMED discography. "Gore Metal" was killer just the way it was. There were some early NAPALM DEATH records I wished they re-recorded when they came out, but was perfectly fine with the original mayhem from "Gore Metal" in 1998. The re-recording and packaging is killer and definitely takes things up a notch. I have most of EXHUMED's discography on vinyl. Owning on vinyl to me is that extra stamp of approval.

Proclaims vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey: "I'm super pumped that we got the chance to re-record Gore Metal. I don't think any of us were happy with how it turned out the first time around, so getting another shot at it meant a lot to me personally. I was also really excited to have our old friend Ross Sewage reprise his vocals on the new version, ensuring that it still sounds like that era of EXHUMED, though things are a lot more audible this time around!"

EXHUMED kicks off their tour today (January 24, 2015) and is playing locally on February 3rd, 2015 at the Union Transfer in Philly with Napalm Death, Voivod, Iron Reagan, Black Crown Initiate and Ringworm. Sick.
